About Us

Julien Freed, our principal designer, has been involved in lighting since 1981. He has always been interested in introducing new technology and was at the forefront of the introduction of dichroic halogen, compact fluorescent, miniature metal halide and light emitting diodes (LED).  Julien has also been involved in the introduction of lighting control technology and has extensive experience in programming lighting control systems. Beyond lighting, Julien is a subject matter expert in battery storage, solar pv and electric vehicles. 

Julien Freed Consulting has been working in the energy efficient lighting market since 2009 and has worked extensively with the NSW Government and local Councils in the application and implementation of energy efficient lighting systems. We have also provided an extensive suite of guides and training documentation related to lighting. Some of these are available for download from the website of the NSW Governments Department of Planning Industry and Environment.

We collaborate with a number of specialists in many other technologies beyond lighting. Most recently we have worked with ChargeWorks on the development of the Battery Storage tools which are also available for download from the website of the NSW Governments Department of Planning Industry and Environment. This collaboration has also resulted in the development of a number of assets for the NSW Government in electric vehicles.
